The Chin-Up & Dip Assist counterweights an athlete’s bodyweight so chin-ups, pull-ups and dips can be trained with real reps long before an unassisted one is possible — and kept in a programme as a volume tool once it is.

The stack works in reverse of a normal machine: more weight selected means more help, not more resistance. Pin in at 44 lb and the athlete is lifting their bodyweight minus 44 lb. Drop the pin as they get stronger and the assistance falls away, which turns a movement most people can only fail at into one they can actually progress.

Plates run in 11 lb (5 kg) and 16.5 lb (7.5 kg) steps with two 5.5 lb (2.5 kg) micro adjusters, so the increments stay small enough to matter near the top of the range, where the difference between assisted and unassisted is a few pounds.

The knee pad folds away for unassisted work, so the same frame serves a beginner on heavy assistance and an athlete doing strict bodyweight dips. Step heights are staggered so shorter and taller users can both get on and off under control.
