Product Info
The Zeus Vortex Ski Trainer V2.0 brings the hardest-earned workout in endurance sport indoors. Double-poling drives the lats, triceps, shoulders and the whole trunk through a full range under load, and because the legs and hips contribute on every stroke it reaches more muscle at once than almost anything else in the room — with nothing to absorb through a joint, which is why it keeps turning up in return-to-training programmes as well as in conditioning blocks.
Two Ways to Set It Up
The trainer itself is the same either way — same flywheel, same handles, same monitor. What changes is how it stands up.
- With Stand — supplied on its own weighted floor base, with a tubular steel frame around the flywheel and transport wheels at the rear. Free-standing: nothing to anchor, nothing to drill, and it can be wheeled between spaces. This is the straightforward choice for most rooms.
- Without Stand — the trainer on its own, mounted to a structural wall or to a rack. It saves $200 and a good deal of floor depth, and it keeps the footprint off the floor entirely.
Wall mounting hardware is not supplied. Wall builds vary too much — stud spacing, concrete, block, steel — for one kit to suit them all, and the wrong anchor in the wrong wall is not a risk worth packaging. We will supply the right hardware on request: tell us what you are fixing to and we will quote it with the machine. Confirm your wall build before ordering.
Air Resistance, Set by the Athlete
Resistance comes from a shrouded air flywheel, so it answers to effort rather than to a setting — pull harder and the air pushes back harder, through the same stroke. That makes it self-scaling across a mixed class: the same machine suits a junior athlete and a heavyweight without anyone adjusting anything between pieces.
The flywheel sits low and centred behind its guard. Two independent cords run to separate handles, so the trainer covers double-pole work with both arms together and alternating-arm classic technique, as well as single-arm and kneeling variations.
The Monitor
The performance monitor sits on a pivoting bracket at mid-mast, set at eye height for a standing athlete and angled to stay readable mid-piece. It reports in the units the sport already uses, so a piece can be written on a whiteboard and read back without translation:
- Distance in metres, and split as time per 500 m — the pace figure every ski and rowing programme is already written in.
- Power in watts, with a live power bar for holding a rate through a long interval.
- Stroke rate in strokes per minute, and a running stroke count.
- Calories and elapsed time.
Dedicated Interval and Target buttons set structured work directly on the machine, so a coach can put a class on the same piece without anybody holding a phone. The monitor is battery powered and needs no outlet.
